This is not a replacement for the documentation but should drastically reduce the amount of time you need to spend there or with the support team.

    Learn the basics of how to use our hosted product.

    By the end of this course you will be able to:

    • understand what IdPs and SPs are and do
    • understand the various types of account used in OpenAthens
    • understand how permission sets, resources and accounts fit together
    • log in and get around the administration area
    • update your own administrator account
    • add a new user account
    • find a user's account and reset their password

      How to use some of the more advanced features of our hosted product.

      By the end of this course you will be able to:

      • Download account data
      • Create user accounts via bulk upload
      • Modify multiple accounts at once
      • Understand the basics of resources and permission sets
      • Set up your organisation, email and notification preferences
      • Use the Redirector

      This course covers the remaining features of our hosted product.

      By the end of this course you will be able to:

      • Create and manage organisation units
      • Customise the MyAthens portal
      • Modify your account schema
      • Release additional information to publishers
      • Connect to SAML resources outside of the federation

      This course will cover how to work with the local authentication connector you would use if you had connected your own directory to OpenAthens (e.g. Azure, LDAP, Active Directory, SirsiDynix). 

      By the end of this course you will be able to

      • Understand and use attribute mappings
      • Understand and use rules and permissions
      • Understand how to integrate with reports

      It will not cover the initial connection between your systems and ours.

      Prerequisites:

      • You have completed the OpenAthens Advanced course.

      How to use the reporting and audit functions of OpenAthens.

      By the end of this course you will be able to:

      • Understand and navigate the reporting interface
      • View audit information for your organisation and your patrons' accounts
      • Generate reports about authentication and resource use
      • Schedule a report and have it alert yourself and a colleague when it's ready
